IB 1 Listening Journal #2 - Interval Identification

So I heard Animaniacs had some good songs...
The part of this first song, the Animaniacs take on Noel, starts at the 0:40 mark on the video. Throughout the song, the melody retains a repeated melody, only with different lyrics. The main melody consists of mainly m2 and M2, as the pitches throughout only slightly change, without any large leaps.
For this next song, it actually only consists of two notes throughout, just with different songs thrown in and out of it. The two notes are G and E, thus making the melody a M2 melody.
Since about half the Junior class (at least those that had Mrs. Rabourn for their history teacher) pretty much memorized this song, I couldn't let this one go from the Animaniacs songs. The pitches of the melody actually are fairly steady, only going up by m2 each time it changes (With the exception of Woodrow Wilson, which moves at varying m2 and a M3).

IB 1 Listening Journal #1 - Rock of Ages

For my first listening journal, I have decided to talk about the song Rock of Ages, as I have been listening to it for some time now anyways, so I'd personally like to think that I know a fair amount about it.
Starting off, I would like to state that the scale used in this song is 4/4 time, and in regards to Timbre, it mainly uses Chordophones. However, many of these chordophones are amplified through electronic means, making electronophone a very apparent timbre. Both idophones and membranophones can be heard in the background as the song progresses in the forms of a simple drum beat keeping the meter at a steady Andantino tempo, along with cymbals added in for extra effect every so often.
The texture that this song possesses is that of poly, which has several melodic ideas playing at the same time. This is very true for Rock of Ages, mainly because inherently this song mixes several song into one, which will of course cause several melodic ideas to play with one another, however they do so in a very creative way and is able to properly come out as a very well done song. Not too fast paced, nor too slow, while combining many melodies together into one.

Practice 10

I worked a little bit more on supporting of the breath, but I also revisited vowel shape. Both of those things are required for the sound of your voice to be full and clear. Also with vowel shape and breath, the sound will project further than it otherwise would have.
I still need to do a little more work with vowel shapes and supporting my breath before I completly 'master' it, but I am well on my way to perfect it.

Practice #9 - my counting skills are apparently horrible.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO6UGuKf7CE

So, looking at the video again, I see that I did make some slight mistakes with my posture while sitting. So I'll have to work on sitting posture in the future. Anyway, as said in the video, breathing in with the stomach and letting the bottom of your ribs move up slightly is the way to breathe. With that type of breathing, your breath will be greatly supported while sining and your sound will be projected further.

Practice Journal #....7 I think?

I forget the number of these I'm supposed to have on the blog at this point.... ANYWAY...

This week I worked on Hear Our Prayer. I mainly focoused on vowel shape during the song, and supported my breath during the song. I do not think I have mastered it, and I know it could still use more work before breath support and vowel shape are mastered.

Performance Exam - The Bells Full - Upload Try #17

Alright then, hopefully this one finally uploads!
I've been having issues with my laptops webcam to upload things to Youtube, and somtimes when they did the link I put on the blog would be dead. So I would have to keep trying to upload the exact same thing... many, many times.
Anyway, here is the link to the full Bells, if this link does not work (it works for me though for some reason) please tell me so I can get a new one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQmp6ZLm_YY&feature=g-upl&context=G238e331AUAAAAAAAAAA
